In this page I want to share some information for beginners on how to make money blogging. For a very quick and broad visual intro – check out this Make Money Blogging MindMap which visualizes just SOME of the ways bloggers make money blogging.

Firstly – lets get our expectations right. Not everyone who tries to make money blogging becomes rich. In fact those who do well from blogging are in the minority. I’m sorry if this disappoints you – but I’m not here to hype this up or make any promises. It is possible to make money blogging – but it takes time and a lot of hard work – and it doesn’t happen for everyone!

For a picture of how realistic it is check out my post – Can You Really Make Money Blogging: 7 Things I know about Making Money from Blogging.

Secondly – let me start by sharing my own top Money Making Methods but below that point you to some great resources and teaching on how to increase your income from blogging.

How I Make Money BloggingWhat follows is a quick summary of my main income streams from blogging. Before you read it though – keep in mind that every blog is unique in how it can make money. Some of the following income streams will work on some blogs a lot better than others – the key is to experiment with as many as possible and see what works best for you.

The following income streams (from a number of blogs) have helped me to earn a six figure income each year for the last 5 years from blogging. I’ve ranked them from highest to lowest.

I hope you find it useful to see the mix and variety of ways that I earn a living from blogging.

1. AdSense

AdsenseDespite not using it here at ProBlogger any more (here’s why) I continue to use AdSense with amazing effect on my other blogs. I have them all set to show image and text based ads and find that 250×300 pixel ads work best (usually with a blended design). I don’t have much luck with their ‘referrals’ program but their normal ads work a treat and continue to be the biggest earner for me.
2. Affiliate Programs
miscellaneous affiliate programsI run a variety of affiliate programs on my blogs – most of which bring in smaller amounts of money that don’t really justify a category of their own (but which certainly add up).

These include recommending quality products like these here on ProBlogger: Thesis WordPress theme, Yaro’s Blog Mastermind Coaching Program and How to Launch the F*** out of your E-Book (and others) as well as some great products on my photography blog including 123 of Digital Imaging, David DuChemin’s amazing Photography E-Books and Mitchell Kanashkevich’s great ebooks.

The great thing about many of these programs is that they are of such high quality that they sell themselves and I am being emailed from readers who sign up to them thanking me for the recommendation!
3. E-Book Sales
make-money-blogging-ebooks.jpgLast time I did a wrap up of how I make money blogging this category did not exist for me – I didn’t really have any of my own products to sell at all. However in the last year or so I’ve released 3 E-books – 31 Days to Build a Better Blog, The Essential Guide to Portrait Photography and Photo Nuts and Bolts: Know Your Camera and Take Better Photos. While these products all only sell for under $20 they certainly add up and some months this has been my biggest category of income. The reason they were only ranking at #3 in the last month was that I didn’t do a product launch (I wrote about one launch which brought in $72,000 in a week here). This is an income stream I see growing as I add more E-books to my range (expect 3 in the coming few months).
4. Continuity Programs
make-money-blogging-continuity.jpgThis is another newer category for me but one that continues to grow.

A continuity program is a site where you earn a recurring income from people who subscribe to a service you offer.

For me this includes two sites – ProBlogger.com and Third Tribe Marketing. Both programs are membership sites and generate monthly income from the thousands of members that they have as a part of them.
5. Private Ad Sales/Sponsorships

private-ad-salesPrivate ad sales directly to advertisers have fallen for me in the last year (they previously ranked #3 on this list). This is partly due to a change in my own focus but also partly due to the economy as it is. I should note that this area does vary a little from month to month depending upon the campaigns we’re asked to run – we’ve had a couple of months where it actually ranked #2 in the last year.

This includes ad sales of the 125 x 125 ads here at ProBlogger as well as a campaign or two at Digital Photography School.
6. Chitika
ChitikaChitka continues to be a great performer for me on my blogs. They traditionally have worked best on product related blogs although their Premium ad units now convert well on a larger range of blogs.

While I’ve focused a little less on Chitika in the last 6 months (mainly as I’ve released my own products and moved a little away from advertising) they do continue to perform well where I use them and over the time I’ve been using Chitika they’ve now earned me over a quarter of a million dollars – as a result I can’t recommend them enough!
7. Amazon Associates

Amazon’s affiliate program has been one of my big movers in the last 12 months. I used to make a few odd dollars from it – however in recent times it has become a significant earner for me (in fact it’s now earned me over $100,000 since I started using it). Christmas time (and the lead up to it) is a particularly good time for Amazon – last December it would have ranked #2 on this list.
8. ProBlogger Job Boards

make-money-blogging-job-board The job boards here at ProBlogger continue to grow each month in the number of advertisements that are being bought. This enabled me to invest most of the money that they’d earned a while back into getting a new back end for the boards and to redesign them. These job boards now bring in over $1000 a month in revenue which is pretty nice considering that they are so low maintenance to run. They also offer a service to readers and add value to the overall blog.

The only problem that I face with the job boards is that there are so many bloggers looking for work that the demand for jobs far exceeds the supply. On the good side of things is that advertisers are reporting getting amazing quality of applications.
9. Speaking Fees

I get asked to do a lot of speaking and increasingly they are paid opportunities. I’m not able to do as many as I would like (mainly because I live in Australia and most of what I’m asked to do is overseas and I only travel 2-3 times a year) – however in April I did a couple of events and the income was enough to include in this list.
Other Income

In addition to all of the above there are many smaller incomes. Many of these are from smaller advertising programs that I test but none are big enough to really rate a mention here.

The other income stream that there was no actual money from in April was book royalties from the ProBlogger Book. These are only paid every 6 or so months (not in April). It’s probably also worth mentioning that authors don’t tend to make a whole lot of money on book royalties – you don’t write books to get rich (unless you sell a lot of them).

In an interview published in Nepali weekly Saptahik, Sushma Karki has boasted that she had received an offer of 2 lakh per night. Although she told that she didn’t like such fans she has met a lot of people who thought ‘every actress work as call girls’ and ‘every actress have sex videos’. Sushma has realized that it is very difficult to live like a pure actress.

sushma_karki_interview

In the interview (attached above the original, in Nepali), she told that once a man called her in the middle of the night and offered 1 lakh for the night. In another incident she had received an offer of 2 lakh per night through Facebook.

Sushma proudly added, "1-2 lakh is not a small amount. Sushma has something that is attracting people." She added, "The only difference is, they took the attraction in the form of sex not in the form of love ."

It is to be noted that Sushma’s controversial movie ‘Bindaas’ was released on the day her interview was published. Sushma is known to be open in sex related topics who says ‘sex is normal these days‘.

Nepali MAYA Bazin In English Sex Film? No she is Indian

we were surprised when Kantipur published an article about a, so called Nepali, sex film actress. we are not sure if she is Nepali or not but in a video that I came across, she says that she is an Indian. See for yourself:Girls like Maya Bazin (or Deepsikha, or whatever) don’t even tell their real names. Everybody knows, these girls can say anything that makes them special. They don’t have to show any proof of their sayings so they use their imagination to take advantage of the situation. This girl Maya might have heard about Nepal, and she wanted to make herself special by telling she is a Nepali girl.

She might also have been to Nepal for a vacation, where she learned few Nepali words (anybody in a hotel in Kathmandu can teach them). And, in another occasion, she forgot how to spell Nepal and took refuge to the easier word ‘India’ for her origination. One should be a fool to believe her and consider her an Indian or a Nepali without a much better proof! Now, what proof does Kantipur has, to tell she is a Nepali? They have made it to the frontpage news (based on a sole interview of a pro) in the weekly publication without even cross checking the information.

Many websites are run by a single person, so they can’t do much research. But, media houses like Kantipur have a huge amount of people around to do extensive research before something is published. They need to cross-check every news and articles for the authenticity of the information to be published.people at Kantipur know sex sells, but they have yet to realized the importance of research and the weight of information. - Kantipur

Studying in the 'Land of the Rising Sun'

If you aspire to go to Japan for your further studies, there are numerous reasons why you should follow your instincts. Nepali students studying in Japan say that the country has a welcoming environment for international students. They describe Japanese students as ‘very friendly’ and ‘ready to assist the new-comers to do well in the academics’. Along with that, the education system does not require the students to indulge in rote learning and they get a platform to explore the creative sides of themselves. These and many other plus points, according to the students, will overshadow the shortcomings of compulsory proficiency in Japanese language, which many Japanese universities require.

However, if you don’t wish to spend time learning the Japanese language and still want to study in Japan, there are a few universities in the country that regulate courses in English, too. In these universities, international students can focus on their subjects without having to work hard on the language.

Alisha Tuladhar, 20, is a third year student at College of International Management, Ritsumeikan Asia Pacific University in Oita, Japan. She shares that the students don’t need any Japanese language skills as all the courses in the university she’s studying in are available in English and the professors hail from English-speaking countries too.

“My current Strategic Management class is taught by a German professor and Accounting by a Canadian. Many seminars are also conducted by foreign intellects,” she says. With about 50 per cent international students from about 80 different countries, making friends with people from all over the world is fun, she adds. “The university life is full of activities and everybody is involved in various circles, multi-cultural weeks, and many other activities besides academics,” Alisha further elaborates.

A representative from the Japan Resource Center at the Embassy of Japan in Panipokhari, Kathmandu shares that most international students go to Japan to study Science, Engineering, Medicine and Pharmacy. However, other programs like Liberal Arts, International Relations, Humanities and Social Sciences are also equally looked up to in Japan.
Another reason to choose Japan for your higher studies is the scholarships available. Many government and private universities provide scholarships and awards for the eligible students.

“I have received three scholarships till date. One, the university has granted me an 80 per cent tuition fee waiver for all the four years of my study period. The other one is from Japanese Student Services Organization (JASSO), which granted me living cost for six months. And the third one is from ANDO Momofuku Award. The award is given to students who do very well in their academics and extracurricular activities,” shares Alisha.

Besides, students are also allowed to work part time. “We are allowed to work 28 hours a week and get paid 750 Yen per hour, meaning the students can quite easily manage their living cost. I’m personally more involved in in-campus jobs and don’t have a part time work elsewhere. Almost all Nepali students here have part time jobs and are paying their own bills, without having to ask from their parents back home,” Alisha informs.

In the same way, Gaurav Basnyat, 26, completed his postgraduate degree in Business Administration from Japan, and is now back in Nepal, currently working with Avionté Solutions – a US based software company. About his experience of studying in Japan, he shares, “Studying in Doshisha University was a wonderful experience indeed. The university is a hub for students from all over the world, coming together to widen the horizon of their knowledge. MBA program there includes interesting subjects that help the students become more creative. The studies focus on sustainability of business, and its environment friendly operation. Students can also gain lot of ideas about transforming cultural aspects into business, which can become more profitable.”

However, good education system is not the only positive aspect of studying in Japan. Gaurav further shares that one can learn a lot about the corporate culture, as the education there focuses on making the students disciplined, polite, humble and punctual, and to believe in process-oriented work. “The students also learn the significance of working for the benefit of the whole society,” he adds.

Similarly, Nirmal Raj Joshi, 28, went to Japan six months ago, after working as a Project Engineer at Sanima Hydro and Engineering Pvt Ltd Nepal. He’s equally satisfied with the studying environment of Japan. A student of Structural Material in Saitama University, Saitama Prefecture, Nirmal says, “The structural material laboratory here deals with the design of construction materials (like concrete, steel, etc). I chose this subject to learn about the wise and economic selection of engineering materials by knowing their properties in details. And in Japan, it is taught very thoroughly.”

The courses require extensive research rather than focusing on theoretical books. And students have to spend most of their time in laboratory and experiment rooms, which makes studying all the more fun. The Japan engineering graduates, also readily get jobs in the local engineering companies of Japan, right after the completion of their studies. “This has encouraged the engineering students from all over the world to get enrolled in the university here,” Nirmal says.

For a football lover like him, good news is that he gets to participate in football matches that are held frequently and that serves as leisure. Even though the classes in the university he’s studying are conducted in English, he’s currently taking Japanese language classes to ease his communication with the Japanese people.
Contact the Embassy to learn about the visa process.

Do Nepali Models fit in Model criteria ?

How many of the Nepali models are taller than 5 ft 8 in ? I suspect none.
Wikipedia defines a model as ‘a person who is employed for the purpose of displaying and promoting fashion clothing or other products and for advertising or promotional purposes or who poses for works of art.’

How many of them are posing for ‘works of art’? Probably, none.
How many of the internet models are ‘promoting fashion clothing’ or other product ? A very small number of them, I believe.

Some of you might say that the definition of model, in this digital age, is changed. I agree, and I also believe so. But, there is still something amiss, odd, or awkward on the way our modeling industry is shaping up. I have lost track of the beauty contests, being held every other day — and I won’t be writing about them anymore unless they are ‘big enough’ like Miss Nepal. These ‘model manufacturing’ contests might be one of the reason there are so many models around.

When you can’t fit it in the traditional definition, you should redefine term itself so that, everybody fits in it. Then, what is the definition of Nepali version of Model ?

nitu chandLet me list out some of the points to be considered while drafting the definition of model. (I have only considered female models and male models are out of scope for this article):

In Nepal 5 ft 8 in is too much to expect from female models. 5 ft. tall might be an average height to be considered.
Usually models should bring their own dress, makeup kits, and make-up artist unless otherwise agreed beforehand. So, they are not promoting anything, except themselves.
Many models say that they have to pay the photographer or producers, not the other way around.
Only lucky models can show dress. All others should show the opposite.
Models should have a secondary job to pay for them. (When model agents, like cybersansar, can’t pay themselves enough and had to do alternative business, how can models expect to survive in that profession?)

0009-017Some modeling scandals and controversies might also be helpful while drafting the derination:

The modeling industry was shocked when models Ramita Bhandari and Sabu Shah were arrested on charges of trafficking girls promising lucrative jobs in Singapore.
Last year, when the Internet based prostitution racket run by Sangeeta Shrestha, was busted by the police, it was revealed that models were available for Rs. 50,000 per night. The rate of celebrities was twice that amount. Although, no names were revealed, it is clear some of them have opted to work in the business.
In an interview published in Saptahik, a model, Smita Thapa, told that she is earning more than 4-5 lakh a month. At the same time she told that she has lost track of how many people she has slept with. In response, another model Baby Thapa told that she also has a lot of boyfriends and is liberal in sexual relationship.
A model turned actress Namrata Shrestha sex scandal video showed her intimate moments with a married man — who wasn’t her boyfriend.
Another model turned actress Pooja Lama‘s similar scandal video forced her to marry the guy involved, temporarily. They got separated in less than a year.

Said that, I don’t mean modeling is full of such things. There are some positive aspects too:

Many have taken it as the stepping stone to debut their acting career. For example, Jharana Bajracharya, Namrata Shrestha, Nisha Adhikari, Richa Singh Thakuri, Kalpana Shahi, Anuska Dhakal, Sunita Gandarva, Rekha Thapa, Richa Ghimire, Puja Lama, Yamuna Upreti all started their career as models. Others have started their career as air hostess, fashion business, and dancing in Nepali and foreign restaurants.

Array_40

Apart from moving on to another profession, some of the successful models — still modeling are, Nisha Adhikari, Namrata Shrestha, Binita Baral, Pooja Lama, Hema Shrestha, Kalpana Shrestha, Shristi Shrestha, Pragya Pokharel, Sahana Bajracharya, Sanju Pariyar, Aayushi Shah, Uma Thapa, Raj Ghimire. But, they also don’t fit into the definition of a model.

With all these information, I hope you would be able to come up with a definition of Model in Nepali context. Please use the Facebook comment box OR the one below it, to post your definition.

Scrimshaw skull was canvas for whaling artists

It is 1825, nearing the peak of American whaling, and the seas are still crowded with whales. But hunting the mighty creatures means long, lonely stretches for whaling crews on voyages that could last for years.

It is a time before Sudoku, so sailors turn to scrimshaw – detailed etching on bone or ivory – to while away the hours. This skull of a rough-toothed dolphin, Steno bredanensis, becomes the canvass for images including potted plants, butterflies and flags. Sailing ships flank the back of the animal's head, while a checkerboard pattern marches along the mandible.

The origin of this piece is unknown, but it is thought to be the work of an American whaler working around 1825, judging by the flags depicted.

Cetaceans themselves can get creative, too. Some whales woo mates with love songs, and then cement their union with duetsSpeaker. Whales and dolphins could even be said to have their own cultures.

Whales can craft a story worthy of the most ambitious scrimshaw artist: their 25-centimetre long plugs of earwax can serve as detailed records of their life experiences.

Your face may have been sculpted by junk DNA

Even the prettiest faces are built using junk. In mice, the shapes of the face and skull are finely tuned by junk DNA, so called because it was initially thought to lack function since it doesn't encode proteins. The same junk DNA sequences are found in humans, so they are probably also shaping our faces.

This finding could help us make sense of some congenital conditions, such as cleft palates, that can develop even when the genes that shape the face appear to be working normally.

There is a huge degree of variation in human faces but, as family resemblances show, the overall shape is heavily constrained by genetics. However, so far, geneticists have identified only a small number of genes that influence the shape. These explain just a tiny fraction of the variation seen in human faces.

According to Axel Visel of the Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory in California and his colleagues, more variation is controlled by distant-acting enhancers. These are short sequences of DNA, in non-coding regions of the genome, that can influence the activity of the facial genes, even if they are a long way along the DNA strand.

"Enhancers are part of the 98 per cent of the human genome that is non-coding DNA – long thought of as 'junk DNA'," says Visel. "It's increasingly clear that important functions are embedded in this 'junk'."
Face enhancers

Visel and his colleagues used a technique called optical projection tomography, which allows them to build up a three-dimensional model of a developing mouse embryo and show how gene expression varies in each region. This revealed some 120 enhancers that were active in various regions of the developing face. To work out what the enhancers were doing, the team chose three and engineered three groups of mice to each lack one of them.

When the mice were 8 weeks old, the team compared their skulls and faces to those of a control group of mice with all enhancers intact. They found that each enhancer had a subtle effect on face shape. For instance, deleting one enhancer left mice with faces that were longer – but skulls that were broader and shorter – than the control mice.

It's an important study, says Lavinia Paternoster, a geneticist at the University of Bristol, UK, because it identifies the key areas of the genome for face shape. "Studies such as this will enable us to focus on regions of the genome that are more likely to harbour important genetic variants and hence might mean that we can identify these variants with smaller sample sizes than is usually necessary."

However, she thinks the junk DNA might not be as important as Visel suggests. She has performed one of the few studies so far to identify genes involved in facial morphology. She investigated the entire genome – including coding and non-coding regions – of thousands of individuals, and found little evidence that non-coding regions have a powerful effect on face shape. "I am in no doubt that some enhancers do harbour some genetic variants that will influence face shape," she says. "But they are not the Holy Grail of missing heritability."
Cleaving palates

None of these effects on face shape were dramatic enough to, say, cause a cleft palate. But several enhancers can act on a single gene, says Visel. So if some or all of these enhancers carry mutations, their cumulative effect might lead to such dramatic facial changes.

"There are many cases of craniofacial pathologies – including a significant number of cases of clefts of the lip or palate – that cannot currently be explained by mutations in protein-coding genes," says Visel. "Based on our studies in the mouse model, it is possible or even likely that in some of these cases mutations in enhancers play a role."

So perhaps rather than looking for mutations in the genes, we should be focusing on mutations in the enhancers that influence those genes.

"This will certainly help us to understand the underlying causes of these defects better, and will eventually help in the diagnosis, possibly also prevention or treatment of such conditions," says Visel.

'Egg' in cellular nest shows off the Small World

Like a softly glowing robin's egg, the nucleus of a cultured kidney cell seems to lie in a nest of microtubules, as seen at 100-times magnification. The shot is among the spectacular entrants in this year's Nikon Small World competition, which since 1974 has recognised the best pictures taken using a microscope.

All cells with a membrane-bound nucleus also have microtubules – hollow filaments of protein that aid in various tasks, from cell division to locomotion. This surreal vision of a lab-grown monkey cell was submitted by Mariela Loschi of Buenos Aires, Argentina.

Another image shows the explosive dynamics of sugar transport in fat cells, seen in a living cell thanks to a microscope technique called total internal reflection fluorescence. It was made by James Burchfield at the Garvan Institute in Sydney, Australia. Stay tuned for the contest winners, which will be announced 30 October, and in the meantime tour a gallery of our favourite shots from last year's competition.

Entangled toy universe shows time may be an illusion

Time is an illusion – at least in a toy model of the universe made of two particles of light. The experiment shows that what we perceive as the passage of time might emerge from the strange property of quantum entanglementMovie Camera. The finding could assist in solving the long-standing problem of how to unify modern physics.

Physicists have two ways of describing reality, quantum mechanics for the small world of particles and general relativity for the larger world of planets and black holes. But the two theories do not get along: attempts to combine their equations into a unified theory produce seemingly nonsensical answers. One early attempt in the 1960s was the Wheeler-DeWitt equation, which managed to quantise general relativity – by leaving out time altogether.

"It means that the universe should not evolve. But of course we see evolution," says Marco Genovese at the National Institute of Metrological Research in Torino, Italy.

In 1983 theorists Don Page and William Wootters suggested that quantum entanglement might provide a solution to the Wheeler-DeWitt "problem of time"Movie Camera. When quantum objects are entangled, measuring the properties of one changes those of the other. Mathematically, they showed that a clock entangled with the rest of the universe would appear to tick when viewed by an observer within that universe. But if a hypothetical observer existed outside the universe, when they looked in, everything would appear stationary.
Photon clock

For the first time, Genovese and colleagues have demonstrated this effect in a physical system, albeit in a "universe" that contains only two photons. The team started by sending a pair of entangled photons along two separate paths. The photons start out polarised, or orientated, either horizontally or vertically, and the polarisation rotates as both photons pass though a quartz plate and on to a series of detectors.

The entangled photons exist in a superposition of both horizontal and vertical states simultaneously until they are observed. But the thicker the plate, the longer it takes the photons to pass through and the more their polarisation evolves, affecting the probability that either one will take a particular value.

In one mode of the experiment, one of the photons is treated like a clock with a tick that can alternate between horizontal and vertical polarisation. Because of entanglement, reading this clock will affect the polarisation value of the second photon. That means an observer that reads the clock influences the photons' universe and becomes part of it. The observer is then able to gauge the polarisation value of the other photon based on quantum probabilities.

Since photons passing through a thicker quartz plate experience a different degree of change, repeating the experiment with plates of different thicknesses confirms that the second photon's polarisation varies with time.

In another mode, the experimenter is a "super-observer" that exists outside of the universe, and so measures the quantum state of the system as a whole. From that vantage point, the state of both photons taken together is always the same, giving the appearance of a static universe.
Quantum cosmos?

"It's very nice these people have done an experiment to illustrate this effect and show how in practice it can occur," says Page, who is now at the University of Alberta in Edmonton, Canada.

But not everyone thinks the Wheeler-DeWitt equation is the correct route to unification of the quantum and classical worlds, says Lee Smolin at the Perimeter Institute in Waterloo, Ontario, Canada. "They have verified in the context of a laboratory system that quantum mechanics is working correctly," he says. But Smolin argues that any correct description of the universe must include time.

Genovese acknowledges that the result does not cinch the issue. Instead, he sees the work as a hint that quantum equations can in some ways mesh with general relativity, offering hope for a unified theory. The next step will be moving beyond the toy universe and seeing whether a similar effect scales up to explain what we see on a cosmic level.

"It's a visualisation of the phenomenon, it's not a proof," Genovese says of the experiment. "You should look to the universe itself for that."

Dancing with Charles better than sex: Emma Thompson

Emma Thompson has said that dancing with Prince Charles is "better than sex".

Thompson made the comment in a Time magazine feature on the 64-year-old heir to the British throne, News.com.au reported.

The article also revealed that the Prince of Wales staged a dress rehearsal to teach Prince William the intricacies of hosting an investiture, and it included a sword being sent especially from London.

Charles held the trial run for William during a family holiday at Birkhall in Scotland last month, ahead of William's first investiture ceremony last week at Buckingham Palace.

The heir to the throne taught his son how to dub a new knight with a blade and the training proved successful, as the ceremony apparently passed off without any problems.

Looking at art forms beyond paintings

Mural artist and sculptor Rouble Nagi's latest installation titled, Lovers, has recently been installed here in the capital. It has been carved out of a single piece of marble, and took Rouble more than eight months and weighs approximately five tons.
Rouble explains her sculpture, saying, "I always make my initial designs from clay, create a form and hold it against the sky, this way, I can imagine it in any size and always be in control. While creating any large sculpture I always feel that my audience must think creating something like this is nearly impossible. Sculptures look the best in open air landscape.

My subject is my emotion, and I believe that paintings are more poetic and sculptures more realistic and logical. To evoke emotions in an audience through sculptures is the most difficult thing to do. All my recent projects have been large and required me to work with new medium and all of them weigh over a ton."
Rouble has recently made marble, glass and metal installation for private clients in Delhi, Mumbai and Punjab. She also adds that these days, people are looking at other forms of art, which is a good sign for the artist as he is free to experiment with different mediums. Rouble is now working on an eight ton stainless steel sculpture. It will be ready by December, and is for a client in Abu Dhabi.

Steal my husband, but lay off my maid!

Good domestic help is an endangered species in Gurgaon, and the city's households are a battleground of fiercely protecting or stealing that perfect maid!

Yes, in Gurgaon, it's tough to find a maid who understands and suits all your needs. But once you find the perfect domestic help, it's even tougher to retain them because friends and neighbours want to get their hands on them. Employers will go to any extent to protect their maid from 'poachers' who might lure them with more pay or perks. Conversely, they'll also go to extremes to steal one. A comment in an online forum in Gurgaon summed up the fight - 'Stealing another woman's husband is rude, but to steal their maid is unforgivable'. Here's how Gurgaon women protect, or poach, their domestic goddesses.

How not to lose your maid to your friends

"I make sure my friends never meet my maid. If I host a kitty party, I send her out. A party is when you need your maid the most, but I don't want to take chances. I have her do all the preparation before my friends arrive, and then I send her to watch a movie. For her, it's kind of a reward, but for me, it is to make sure that my friends don't communicate with her and offer her more than what I pay her," says Ritu Singh, a homemaker in Sushant Lok Phase 1. And what if friends drop in unannounced? "I don't leave my maid alone. Even if she is serving them, I make sure I'm present. I don't allow her to answer questions from my friends, rather, I promptly answer on her behalf," she replies.

It may be complicated to deal with friends, but it's easy to shrug off strangers trying to be over-friendly with your maid, says Priyanka*. "I work in a bank and don't have much time to keep an eye on my maid - kaun usse baat karta hai, etc. But when I'm with her, I make sure no stranger approaches her. Once, we were at a mall, and a lady started talking to my maid. She was asking her about her salary and what work she does. I rushed over and asked the woman, 'what's your problem?'. I know I was rude, but I could see my maid getting influenced," she adds.

For Prarthana Verma, a homemaker in DLF Phase IV, her maid is indeed more precious than her husband. "I know my husband won't be able to find a wife like me, so I'm not insecure about him. But my maid can definitely find a better place. She has been working for us for 10 months, so she understands all my needs. I just can't let her go. It is next to impossible to find a maid and then adjust with her." So, Verma never allows her maid to go to any store in her locality alone. "A department store is where all the maids meet; their employers also meet other maids there. The store owner also keeps asking maids about their pay. They sometimes offer the maids work in their store, or at a neighbour's place who has asked them to find a maid. So, my maid is always accompanied by my five-year-old son, who'll tell me everything - who met her, who asked what. Or I accompany her."

How to poach a friend's maid

Despite your best efforts, maids do get stolen by persistent poachers. Suneeta Kumar*, a resident of Sushant Lok Phase 1, says, "I poached my friend's maid. Of course, after that, we are not as great friends as we used to be." How did she do it? Says Kumar, "I asked my friend to send her maid for an hour to help me, and discovered that she was very keen to learn new things, would keep herself clean and would prefer cleanliness around. I offered her work, but she said she can't work full time at two places. So, I gave her more attractive offers - more than four days off a month, a separate room, and a hike of `2,000." "I got my maid from my neighbours. I just made her realize she was working too much. I'd tell her, 'mere ghar itna kaam nahi hota'. Main jab bhi usse milti, yahi bolti - tujhse kitna kaam karwate hain, main toh aadhe kaam khud kar leti hoon. I asked her after a month if she was interested. She readily agreed! When she was leaving, my neighbours came and had an argument with me about how I could take away their maid. They made a proper scene," said Akanksha*, who stays at Sohna road.

For some maids, loyalty triumphs over lucrative offers

There will be some maids who won't be swayed by greener pastures. "My maid has got several offers of a bigger salary from my neighbours, but she didn't go. She even comes and tells me about offers made to her. I know it will be hard for her to leave us because we treat her like family. I know if I don't treat her well, she won't take proper care of my daughter. So, I make sure that I appreciate her work," says Shikha Nanda, office manager at Costa Coffee India.

College girls by day, sex workers by night!

Many young gals coming from Talukas and districts around Nagpur indulge in the oldest profession in the world when they come to the city to study or work

Till now, the Nagpurians had tagged Ganga Jamuna red light as the dwelling arena of the commercial sex workers, having shut their hearts, minds and eyes to their professional and personal lives. But, many of you will be now be shocked to know that there are hundreds of young, middle-class girls coming to Nagpur from nearby places like Wadi, Hingna, Kalmeshwar and Kamptee on the pretext of pursuing their education or career opportunities and selling sex for money. We trace this murky trail...

Playing Ms Jekyll and Hyde
"Most of these girls lead double lives and make their families believe that Nagpur is the destination of their dreams," says Varsha Pagale, the project manager of a city-based NGO, who's working for the eradication of HIV/AIDS among the non-brothel sex workers in the city. She adds: "Most of these girls are in the age-group of 18-25, and contrary to popular myth, not all of them are from stark poor homes. Of course, there are some, who get mired in this muddy terrain because of poverty, but there are many who are from decent middle-class homes, and indulging in this, to earn extra moolah. We are counselling quite a few students of nursing, Arts, Commerce and Science, who have got involved in prostitution."

Money matters!
It is the lure of the lucre that plays a major role in attracting these small-town girls, says Varsha, and adds: "Since these students are young, they get good money from their clients, which are solicited either directly or through their brokers. Each girl has more than six-seven SIMs and they keep changing their numbers. Each girl earns almost 6000 to 10,000 per night. And on hourly basis, their charging rates are 1500 to 2000, depending upon the client. On an average, each girl indulges in paid sex at least twice a week. So, in a month, they rake in plenty of moolah."

Expensive tastes
"In some of the cases, a part of this money is spent on their families, but in most of the cases, it is blown on expensive mobiles, la-di-dah makeup, accessories and smart new wardrobes. Almost all these girls drink like fish and live under the illusion of being as smart and trendy as their mini-metro brethren, informs Varsha. She goes on to add: "We have registered data base of 3000 non-brothel commercial sex workers, and out of these, almost 70 per cent are students. Others are young girls, who are supposedly working in different organisations in Nagpur and indulging in commercial sex during the working hours. The parents are blissfully unaware about the true nature of their work or education."

I tried everything else, but failed...
Kamptee girl Ketaki (name changed) tells us how she entered prostitution...
My family thinks that I'm studying part-time in a college in Kamptee and I visit Nagpur for my projects etc. But, they don't know that I'm involved in prostitution to run our home. When my father died four years back, my mother started working in a glass factory in Kamptee. But soon, her health deteriorated and the onus lied on me to keep the kitchen fires burning, as I'm the oldest of the three siblings. I tried working in a hospital and later in a computer centre, but the money was just not enough! Moreover, because of my good looks, I faced sexual harassment there. Finally, I took to prostitution when everything else failed. Now, I'm earning decent amount and educating my two younger siblings too. But, deep within, there is a dream hidden in my heart that someday a young prince will come and steal me away from this murky world and will take care of my family as well.

Top 20 natural ways for great hair

But, reality speaks a different story. Instead of spending on those branded shampoos and conditioners, Dr. Sandeep Suttar - Hair Restoration and Skin Rejuvenation surgeon at Hairrevive, Mumbai, shares some natural ways to get great hair. Follow these easy and simple steps to give that luster and shine to your hair, and flaunt your hair like the models do...

Egg treatment

Use the entire egg to condition your hair. If you have dry or brittle hair, use egg whites to moisturize your hair. Use ½ cup of any egg mixture (egg white, entire egg) and apply to clean, damp hair. Leave it for 20 minutes and rinse with cool water.

Cleanliness is important

The most important reason for hair fall is dandruff and itchy scalp. Therefore, maintain good cleanliness for beautiful and healthy hair.

Avoid hot water

Skip hot water showers, because hot water will make your hair dry and brittle as it strips protective oils from your hair - says Dr. Suttar. Thus, prefer a temperature which is just a bit warmer than your body temperature.

Bottle gourd treatment

Extract some bottle gourd juice and apply it into your hair. Keep this solution for half an hour and wash it off thoroughly.

For that shiny soft hair

Prepare a mixture of 1 cup of your daily conditioner and 2-3 tablespoons of honey. Apply this mixture evenly on your wet hair. Leave it for 30 minutes and wash it off thoroughly. This mixture will close down your hair's cuticle and give your hair that amazing shine.

Baking soda therapy

Make a mixture of 3 tbsp. of baking soda and some water. Rinse your hair with this solution after shampooing. Let it set in for at least 5 minutes before the final rinse. This therapy will help to remove the excess shampoo and styling product from your hair.

For bouncy hair

Apply a one to one mixture of warm water and apple cider vinegar to your hair. Rinse it thoroughly after 5 minutes to get rid of the apple cider smell.

Don't wash your hair frequently

Wash your hair every 2-3 days, for proper regulation of natural hair oils. Washing your hair less often will also help regain your hair's natural body and luster.

Make your conditioner

For a protein packed conditioner, mix eggs and yogurt and rub it into your scalp. Leave on for five or 10 minutes, and then wash it off completely.

For strong hair

Use almond oil to treat dry and damaged hair. It is a very simple procedure, pour some almond oil in a bowl and heat it for 40 seconds. Then evenly distribute on your hair. Leave it for 30 minutes and then rinse normally with shampoo and conditioner using cold water.

Say bye-bye to dull hair with lemon juice

After the final rinse, apply 1 tsbp lemon juice to your hair. Simply towel dry your hair and style as normal to get rid of dry hair.

Use protection before you jump into the pool

Pools can do great damage to your hair as it contains harsh chemicals - says Dr Suttar. He says; prevent your hair from the pool damage by simply applying a little conditioner to your hair before you swim. This will protect your hair before it comes in contact with the pool water.

Treat sun damaged hair

Make a mixture of ½ cup honey, 1-2 tbsp olive oil and 1-2 tbsp of egg yolk. Apply this mixture on your hair for 20 minutes and then rinse with warm water. This treatment will help to replenish keratin protein bonds - says Dr. Suttar.

Tight is NO-NO

To prevent breakage due to brittle hair avoid using bands and do not tie your hair too tightly.

The proper brushing technique

Avoid using a comb with plastic bristles to prevent hair breakage from static electricity. The best way to brush your hair is by first brushing the ends to remove tangles and then take the long stokes from the roots of the hair to the ends. This technique will help proper spreading of natural hair oil and thus prevent breakage.

Moisturize your hair

Pour a little beer in your wet hair. Distribute evenly and massage your scalp with your fingers for 20 minutes. Then rinse it thoroughly to get rid of the beer smell. Do this procedure once a week for salon smooth hair. Dr. Suttar says- it is recommended that people with sinus and cold should avoid using this treatment.

Trim your hair regularly

Get your hair trimmed at least every six weeks to eliminate dry, split ends.

Do not brush wet hair

Wet hair is three times weaker and thus more likely to break - says Dr. Suttar. He recommends, towel dry your hair first and then gently detangle your hair using a wide tooth comb.

Let your hair air-dry

Allow your hair to dry by itself instead of using a blow-dryer or hot rollers. Using this artificial mode of drying technique will make your hair more brittle and dry. If you have no time to let your hair air dry, then use blow-dryer sparingly and make sure you use a warm setting instead of a hot setting.

Good diet

Drink lots of water and eat a healthy diet of raw fruits and vegetables. The most effective home treatment for hair care is a healthy diet. You are what you eat, and what you put into your body will be reflected on the outside.

के महिलाहरुले लगाउने bra size को size सही छ ?

http://kantepur.blogspot.com/2013/11/full-sexy-movies-la-dama.html
A century after the invention of the bra, most women are still wearing the wrong size. Here's how to get the perfect fit.

A bra that doesn't fit well can spoil the look of the most expensive dress in your wardrobe.

3 Simple steps to the perfect fit

1. Throw away your measure tapes
Measuring your bust is not the key to getting a great fit. Stand by the mirror and start by taking a look at how your bra fits you and then consider whether you need to adjust your back size or cup size following steps 2 and 3.

2. Find the right back size (28-40)
The back size relates to how the bra fits around your body. The band around your body provides most of the support, so it should be firm but comfortable. It should be horizontal and not ride up at the back at all. If it is loose, or it rides up at the back, try a smaller back size (but remember to increase your cup size). Your bra will stretch with wash and wear, so we recommend a new bra that fits you when fastened on the loosest (outside) hook.

3. Find the right cup size (D-L)
The cup size relates to the volume of your breasts. The wires at the front should lie flat against your rib cage and should not dig in, rub or poke out at the front. Your breasts should be enclosed in the cups and you should have a smooth line where the fabric at the top of the cup ends and meets your bust. You shouldn't have any ridge or bulging over the top or sides of the cups, even if you are wearing a balconette style or lower cut shape.

Why you should choose a well-fitted bra
When your bra back or cup size are right, you will get great support that will give your upper body a good shape and protect your neck, shoulder and back muscles

7 Classic bra faux pas

Here's a check list for your hair and skin that you just can't give a miss. Bushra S Khan reports

After your daily dose of prime-time viewing, you brush your teeth, pop your vitamins and hit the sack? No you don't. Is your hair and skin ready for bed just yet? You have to prep your skin and hair before you hit snooze. We ask Cosmetic Dermatologist Dr Rekha Seth and hairstylist Perry Patel to suggest a bedtime beauty ritual.

Hair
1. First of all do not sleep with dirty hair. You'll be clogging your pores if you do. Wash your hair if it is dirty. This way you'll also be saving time in the morning.
2. Secondly, don't sleep with wet hair. Your hair should be almost dry when you sleep unless you want to wake up with your hair sticking out in weird angles.
3. Comb out all the product you have used in the day.
4. Make sure to sleep with tangle-free hair.
5. Vitamin E is food for the hair (and also the skin). Cut a vitamin E capsule and apply it to your problem areas. Falling hair, dry scalp, thinning hair, frayed ends — it works wonders on them all.
6. Tie your hair in a high pony so that the scalp is able to breath. Avoid tying it too tight as hair on the crown starts thinning first. Tying hair loosely is necessary, especially if you have long hair; your hair might get tugged while you are asleep.
7. Pull you hair up right to the hairline at the front (close to your forehead). Comb softly and tie it up in a top knot. It's like working against the natural direction of the hair. When you open your hair in the morning, it will look full bodied, as if you have blow-dried it.

Face
1. Cleansing, mositurising and sun protection are the three golden words for your skin care regime.
2. Wipe off every last bit of make up using a cleansing lotion.
3. Wash your face with a good face wash.
4. Use a moisturiser with anti-oxidants regardless of your skin type. This is the least you can do for your skin and something that you must start doing in early 20s.
5. Indian climate and skin are extremely prone to tanning. Use a skin lightening agent before you start noticing a tan.
6. Exfoliation is not as simple as it seems. People can over-zealously scrub skin, sapping it of its natural oils. Instead, splash a lot of hot water (not scalding hot) on your face to open up the pores. Take a dollop of mild face wash on a soft sponge and work up a lather while scrubbing the face gently in circular motions. This is more than enough rather than exfoliating with harsh substances.
7. However, remember that without sunscreen all this is no good.

Eyes
Darkening and fine lines appear around the eyes before anywhere else. Use a slightly stronger anti-aging cream around the under-eye area.

Hands and feet
Since there are no oil glands on your hands and feet, they tend to get drier and hence age faster. In the quest of maintaining their facial looks, people often neglect their hands and feet. Use more creamy products for your hands (upto the forearms), preferably something with alpha-hydroxy acids. The same stands true for your feet.

http://kantepur.blogspot.com/2013/11/full-sexy-movies-la-dama.htmlWith the cold dry season approaching, here are a few ways to ensure you sport healthy lips

Your lips are one of the most prominent and visible features on your face. So, sporting chapped, unhealthy looking lips may just take away from your personality and may be a turn-off. And with the dry season approaching, lips are almost always the first part of the body to get affected, given that they have a very thin outer layer of skin. So here's our guide to a few things you need to make sure to have luscious, super-kissable lips!

Moisturise
Since your lips have very few oil secreting glands, they are the first to fall prey to any sudden drop in temperature. A number of over-the-counter lip balms always do the trick. Dr Sandip Jain, cosmetic surgeon, says petroleum jelly is the best thing to guard your lips. "It is best to use non-flavoured petroleum jelly as it great at coating your lips and preserving the moisture content," he adds.

Quit licking your lips
With dry lips, people have a natural tendency to lick them to moisturise them. This is a wrong way to go about it since it could lead to them further cracking up. At times, people even develop angry looking red circles on lips since licking them often robs them of the delicate natural oils. Try using a mix of petroleum jelly and honey if you're in the habit of licking lips, since petroleum jelly is amazingly resistant to moisture.

Keep a good diet
Chapped lips are sign of overall ill health. Try and maintain a healthy diet. Eat a lot of fruits and foods with high water content like grapefruit, watermelons and oranges. Also, if you have problems with blisters appearing on your lips, avoid fatty foods as they could alleviate the condition.

Smoker's lips
Smoking may cause your lips to get discoloured because of the high nicotine content in cigarettes. The best way to avoid this is to entirely quit smoking. But if you cannot for some reason, try washing your mouth after a cigarette. Dr Jain says all citrus fruits are good bleaching agents, "One can use lime juice on the dry part of their lips to try and lighten them," he says. Also, apple cider vinegar and lime juice have properties of a mild bleaching agent. Rub a cotton ball dipped in these liquids and rub them over your lips. Over a period of time it may help lighten the dark skin.

Sexy butt: Top 10 exercises for a sexy butt

The comeback of 'Skinny Jeans' has ensured that more women and men are now focused on toning, tightening, and lifting their butts. However, a shapely backside does more than make your jeans look great.

Your butt muscles- the gluteus maximus, gluteus medius, and gluteus minimus-- are connected to your leg and lower back muscles and they help legs move in all directions and stabilize the back.

If you weren't born with a chiseled derriere, don't fret! Try this top 10 butt exercises by Mike Jackson - Nutritional Consultant and Physique Transformation Specialist to help you get toned and sexy butt.

Exercise for a sexy butt # 1: Squats Squats work almost every muscle in your lower body; particularly the glutes, quads, and hamstrings. Squats shapes and strengthens the gluteus maximus -- your biggest butt muscle. In addition, quads and hamstrings are worked as knees flex.

-Stand with feet shoulder-width apart- widen your stance to tone the inner thigh muscle (adductor)
-Slowly lower your hips- don't let knees extend past toes
-Squeeze glutes and rise to starting position
-Keep your back straight during the entire move

There are several variations of a basic squat. For example: use dumbbells or barbells to increase intensity and include your upper body in the workout. Rather than lowering into a squat, jump explosively and land in squat position. While in squat position, slowly raise 1 leg behind your body and extend arms forward. Return to start position and switch sides.

Exercise for a sexy butt # 2: Lunges Lunges exercise the same muscles as squats, but lunges make the gluteal muscles work harder to slow your body as you lower down. What's more, lunges require more stability, which engages the calves and lower back muscles.

-Stand with feet hip-width apart
-Hold a dumbbell in either hand; if desired
- Take a big step forward with your right leg
-Bend both knees to slowly lower your body
-Don't bend knees more than 90 degrees and keep the front knee aligned over your front ankle
-Step back to start position and repeat with left leg
For explosive lunges: jump and switch legs in midair.

Exercise for a sexy butt # 4: Bridges Without any equipment, you can tone your glutes, rectus abdominus, erector spinae, hamstrings, and adductors.

-Lie on your back with knees bent and feet flat on the floor. -Slowly lift your spine, 1 vertebrae at a time, starting at your butt. -Tighten glutes and hamstrings to create a tight line from shoulders to knees. -Slowly lower your back to the floor.

Exercise for a sexy butt # 5: Running or walking -- on Hills These cardio exercises lift your butt while simultaneously releasing endorphins that lift your mood. Running and walking also burn calories and trim flab from your backside.

Running a mile burns about 100 calories and walking a mile burns around 80. However, the faster you run the more calories you'll burn. People who carry more weight also burn more calories because they exert more effort. For the ultimate butt lift, add a few hills to your running or walking workout. Hill workouts help burn away calories faster, too.

Exercise for a sexy butt # 6: Brazilian Butt Sculptor Brazilian women are known for their beautiful curves and with this fast workout, you can firm your butt and tone your thighs to get enviable curves, too. All you need is a stability ball.

-Lie face down on the ball with palms and toes on the floor -- the ball should be supporting your pelvis.
-Flex glutes and lift your legs as high as you can.
-Hold position for 1 count, then bring feet together for 1 count.
-Separate legs and lower them to the floor.

Exercise for a sexy butt # 7: Barbell hip thrust The barbell hip thrust takes bridges and your butt to a whole new level.

-Sit on the ground with your shoulders against a bench and knees bent.
-Place a barbell with the desired weight across your lap -- if the barbell isn't padded, use a folded towel for cushioning.
-Raise the barbell by flexing your glutes and pushing up.
-Rise until your body forms a straight line from shoulders to knees.
-Slowly lower hips to the floor.

Exercise for a sexy butt # 8: Resistance band crab walk Get ready to feel the burn in your gluteus maximus, outer thighs, and ab muscles! The resistance band crab walk boosts your booty by toning and shaping gluteal muscles.

-Stand with both feet on the exercise band.
-Cross the band in front of your legs and hold the ends.
-Keep your back and legs straight, and shoulders back.
-Take 1 step sideways with the right leg.
-Bring your feet back together, then step sideways with the left leg.

Exercise for a sexy butt # 9: Kneeling glute lift with pulses Here's another exercise from the ever-popular Brazilian Butt lift workout program:

-Kneel down on all fours.
-Raise the left knee -- keep it bent -- until it forms a straight line with your back.
-Lift the knee several inches higher using a pulsing motion.
-Lower the left knee to the ground and repeat with the right leg.

Exercise for a sexy butt # 10: Straight-leg deadlift Heard about the "bum smile"? It's the line where your bum meets your hamstrings. Straight-leg deadlifts target that area to define your "smile."

-Hold a dumbbell with either hand in front of your thighs -- keep arms straight.
-Stand with feet shoulder-width apart and knees slightly bent.
-Bend your hips -- not knees -- and lower your torso until it is parallel with the ground.
-Flex glutes, thrust hips forward, and raise your torso to start position.
For added difficulty: balance on one leg during the exercise.
